PRINCESS PIXIE NEEDS OUR HELP!

Pixie’s heart is not as it should be, she needs our help to put things right but this will come at a cost and we need the help of our Squishy Village to raise the funds to give her what she needs.

PIXIE’s STORY

Princess Pixie is the sweetest little girl who joined us when she was just eight-weeks old! She was surrendered to Squishies after being diagnosed with a heart murmur. Despite her tiny size, Pixie has already shown incredible strength and resilience, wanting to be friends with anyone and everyone who will let her including her feline and canine foster siblings.

Pixie’s Heart Condition

After a consultation and echocardiogram with the brilliant Dr. Richard Woolley and his team, Pixie was diagnosed with pulmonary stenosis. This condition means there’s a blockage in one of her heart’s major blood vessels, causing her heart to work much harder than it should. The excessive strain on her heart has already caused her right ventricle to thicken, which could lead to severe complications, including death, if left untreated.

Thankfully, there is hope! With a series of procedures, including a CT scan and surgery, Dr. Woolley is confident that we can correct the blockage and give Pixie the chance to live a full, normal life. However, this intricate heart surgery will come with significant costs.

What Pixie Needs

In the next few months, Pixie will undergo:
- A CT scan to confirm that the blockage is in the valve and not caused by something else.

- Specialist heart surgery to remove the blockage and restore normal blood flow through her heart.

These procedures are critical to Pixie’s well-being, but they are also expensive, with an estimated cost of over $8,000. To ensure that Pixie gets the care she needs without delay, we are kicking off a series of fundraising efforts, including auctions and events, to gather the necessary funds for her surgery!

Pixie’s Elbow (updated 16/11)

In the course of playing like a regular puppy, Pixie broke her elbow. She has now had specialist surgery to place a pin and will have a number of weeks of supervised resting to ensure she cannot damage it further. This has meant an addition $6000 to her medical costs. Our volunteers are continuing to fundraise so that we can cover the cost of her heart surgery.
