In 2011, Paw Prints Private Rescue began as a small, all breeds cat and dog rescue group in Melbourne.

After taking in a number of flat-faced cats, it became apparent that there was a need for a dedicated rescue group, for these beautiful, but often horrifically neglected cats. Squishies Flat Faced Cat Rescue was founded in 2012, to give flat-faced cats all the special care they need and to find them homes that understand the commitment they require. After 4 years of running Paw Prints and Squishies Cat Rescue side by side we merged the two groups creating Squishies Flat Faced Animal Rescue.

Our focus is flat-faced cat and dog breeds, while still taking other breeds and complex medical cases, whenever possible.

Squishies rescue from pounds nationwide, as well as taking private surrenders from owners who can no longer care for their pet. If you become aware of a Squishy in need please contact us with as many details as possible and we will follow up with that pound or shelter.

All animals that come into care are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and parasite treated at a minimum and given all the time and support they need to be ready to find their forever homes. We are a foster care network which means that all our animals are loved members of their foster family for as long as it takes for them to find their new homes.

To assist with the costs associated with this we have introduced The Squishy Store where 100% of proceeds support the care and medical expenses of our animals. Squishies has been rescuing flat-faced animals for over 10 years and we know how limiting some products can be for them. All products on this website have been tried and tested by us to ensure that they are suitable for our flat-faced friends.
