Looking for a permanent foster home

Dean and Ann are two incredibly special kittens looking for a new foster home where they can continue to thrive. They arrived into our care as tiny kittens with the rest of their siblings and their parents. All seven were born with a neurological condition, which means that they aren’t as steady on their feet as other cats. Both are so gentle and loving and it’s easy to fall in love with them. Their current long-term carer has had a change in circumstances so we are desperately hoping we can find them a stable foster home as consistency and continuity are the best thing for them.

Dean is a happy, energetic boy who loves to hop around and play. He has a super playful nature and he’s even been known to somersault during playtime! Ann is the quieter of the two, but she’s just as affectionate. She adores mealtime and loves a good cuddle session. While she’s the most stable on her feet, her balance can be a bit wobbly at times.

Obviously as they are wobbly this can mean they can sometimes make a mess. Their foster family needs to be willing to show them compassion and understanding and work with us to find a setup that works for them in the new home. Both Dean and Ann experience occasional seizures, which are managed with medication. They require a foster home that can provide twice-daily medication in their food, a safe and stable environment, and, most importantly, plenty of love and patience.

Squishies Flat Faced Animal Rescue will provide all necessary supplies, vet care, and ongoing support to ensure their foster home has everything they need to care for these special kittens. If you’re in Melbourne or surrounding suburbs and can open your heart and home to Dean and Ann, please reach out. They’re looking for a foster family who will cherish their unique quirks and provide the stability they need. The rest of their family have loving permanent foster homes and we know that these two deserve it too.

If you are keen to foster these sweethearts or have questions you’d like to discuss before moving forward then please fill in the form below.

PRINCESS PIXIE

DOB: 12/07/2024
Sex: Female
Breed: French Bulldog
Coat: Short
Microchip: 956000016637741
Location: Carnegie, VIC

Adoption Fee: $2500

Hi everyone! My name is Princess Pixie and I’m a 9-month-old French Bulldog bursting with love, cuddles, and personality.

I absolutely adore humans—I think you're all just the best! I’ve been lucky to have a foster mum who’s home a lot, and I’d really love a home where someone is around most of the time too. Whether you’re working from home or just available for all-day cuddles, I’ll be your little shadow. I’m a super affectionate girl and will shower you with kisses any chance I get. At bedtime, I love to snuggle in close and sleep peacefully right through the night.

When I was around 4 months old, I broke my elbow and had to spend a lot of time resting and staying separate from other animals. Because of that, I missed out on some important puppy experiences and can be a little anxious. But I’ve been working with a lovely trainer, Emily from Treat Me Right, who’s helped my humans learn all about positive reinforcement. My new family will need to continue this training so I can keep growing into my confident, cheeky self!

You may have noticed I’m missing a leg—my surgery didn’t go as planned, but I haven’t let that stop me! I’m just as playful and active as any four-legged pup. I’ll need a family who’s mindful of helping me protect my remaining front leg and who understands that I might get tired a bit faster because I haven’t quite learned how to pace myself yet. My favourite game is fetch and I’m pretty damn good at it. I will go for as long as you’ll let me but 2 - 3 sessions of about 10 minutes each is best.

While I’ve got one chill doggo foster brother who I like hanging out with, I’m best suited to a home without other dogs. I can be reactive to other pups, both in and out of the house, so a dog-free environment is best for now. With consistent training, I might enjoy short walks or playdates with calm, well-matched dog friends—but dog parks are too much for me and won’t be part of my future routine.

I originally came into care with Squishies due to a heart condition called pulmonary stenosis. Thanks to their amazing support, I had surgery to correct it and my heart specialist says my heart is now looking pretty normal! I’ll need a check-up again when I’m two years old, but after that, I shouldn’t need any ongoing treatment.

One of my favourite cheeky habits is stealing shoes and anything left on the floor—it’s all part of the fun! Because of this, I’d do best in a home with adults or teenagers, and no young kids. My ideal home would be one without many stairs (a couple is okay) to help keep me safe, and I’d love a backyard where I can zoom around and play as I build confidence for walks in the wider world.

While in Squishies' care, I’ve been desexed, vaccinated, and kept up to date with worming and flea treatments. I’m currently hanging out in Carnegie and I’d love to find a forever home in Melbourne or a nearby suburb.

Could you be the one to give me the love, structure, and cuddles I’m dreaming of? 💕

ARTEMIS & LULA

DOB: 19/10/2019 & 14/11/2019
Sex: Male & Female
Breed: Persian
Coat: Long
Microchip: 953010004168169 & 956000012204490
Location: Preston, VIC

Adoption Fee: $1000 for both

Artemis and Lula are a bonded pair of six-year-old Persians who are on the hunt for their forever home! They were originally adopted from a pound after their previous owner surrendered them in terrible condition. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, the resident cat in their new home was not thrilled about the new arrivals, so they’ve come into care with us to find a home where they’ll truly belong.

Artemis is a big sook of a boy. He can be a little nervous in new situations, but once he settles in, he’s an affectionate, playful sweetheart. Lula is the more confident one—she’s chatty, playful, and always up for a cuddle. She loves pats and is totally fine with being picked up.

They get along well with calm, friendly cats after slow introductions, but they’d also be perfectly happy as the only pets in their new home. While in care, they’ve met a small dog and, with the right introductions, they’d be fine living with a cat-friendly pup.

Like all Persians, these two have very thick coats that need regular brushing (which they both enjoy!) and a couple of professional clips a year to keep them comfy. They’ve just had a fresh clip, so their coats are in great shape. Artemis has an old healed ulcer in one eye—he’s not a fan of having his eyes cleaned, but they only need a wipe every couple of days. Lula’s eyes are a bit juicier and need a dry wipe daily, which she actually quite likes.

They’d be happiest in a calm, indoor-only home with adults or respectful kids 10+.

They’re currently in care in Rowville and are looking for a home in or around Melbourne. Both are desexed, microchipped, parasite-treated, and up to date with vaccinations. Lula is also having a dental this week, so she’ll be all set!

Think you might be the perfect match for Artemis and Lula? Get in touch—we’d love to hear from you! 💕

Mumma Mimosa and her baby Bellini are looking for a foster with a view to adopt home in Melbourne. This mother and daughter duo are extremely bonded and would like to stay together forever! Age-wise, we believe that Mimosa is 1-2 years old and Bellini is around 8-10 months.

While we think Mim had some handling in her formative months, unfortunately it appears that little Lini missed out all together and this has had a lasting impact on her. She is still shy but she’s very interested in the world around her. While she isn’t on board with pats like her mum is, she does love to play and we are confident that with time and patience she will become as affectionate as Mim is.

Mimosa on the other hand is absolutely obsessed with playing ‘thing on a stick’ with her foster mum and will protest the end of the game by sitting in the toy and meowing for “just 5 more minutes!” Both girls enjoy a chat and often talk to each other and their foster mum. The girls both eat well and use their trays and are for the most part pretty low maintenance family members. While both girls are now pretty comfortable with their environment and foster carer, new people do cause them to revert to being timider and more unsure. It’s for this reason we’d like to find them a foster with a view to adopt home, where they can have plenty of time to settle in and already be in what should be their forever home. We believe this is the best way the girls will be able to grow in confidence at their own pace.

As previously mentioned, both girls have abnormalities in their feet and tails due to their Fold gene, but they don’t seem at all bothered by it at this stage. It is possible that as they age, they will need some joint support supplements and pain management and any potential home will need to be aware of this, so they can look out for signs of discomfort as the girls age. Mimosa is already a very entertaining and interactive cat, and we truly believe that Bellini will continue to become more interested in her people and getting attention over time, and that she’ll start to mimic her mum and blossom into a more confident version of herself.

Mim and Lini are looking for a mature, routine orientated, home that is peaceful and relaxed. They would be ok with a friendly existing cat who is happy to give them time to get to know them, but they would prefer no dogs, as they’re a bit overwhelming for them. If you think you might have the perfect forever home to offer these gorgeous young ladies, you can complete an adoption questionnaire via the button below. While in our care they have both been desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, parasite treated and have had extensive x-rays of their joints.

MIMOSA & BELLINI

DOB: 18 months & 10 months
Sex: Female
Breed: Scottish Fold
Coat: Short
Microchip: 956000016023302 & 956000016599396
Location: Southbank, VIC

Adoption Fee: $800 for both

villanelle

DOB: 22/10/2011
Sex: Female
Breed: Scottish Fold
Coat: Long
Microchip: 956000017471147
Location: Rowville, VIC

Adoption Fee: $300

Villanelle is a senior girl who still has a playful side. She loves to play with toys when she’s not sunning herself in a window or having a nap somewhere cosy. She’s also a big fan of catnip toys and will roll around with them in absolute bliss! Much like her namesake, Villanelle does have a flair for the dramatic, if her bowl is empty (or she just feels like it), she will call out to alert her people to her existence, just in case they’ve forgotten! This generally only happens once or twice a day and the rest of the time she’s not an overly chatty cat but does have a fantastic purr.

Villanelle is still on the skinny side, despite putting on some much-needed weight while in care, but we will provide a list of her favourite foods to keep her weight going in the right direction. Villanelle is looking for a quiet, mature retirement home where she can get in plenty of lap time and generally live a quiet life. She would like to be the only pet in her forever home so she can have all the attention to herself and not be bothered by other animals.

Villanelle arrived in care having been shaved due to matting and with her tail inexplicably fused solid in place which caused her lots of issues. She has now had the bulk of her tail removed and this has made life much easier for her. She will need regular brushing as her coat grows back in and will likely need the odd tidy up as seniors often do.

Villanelle is a very special girl, looking for an equally special home that will lavish her will all the love and attention she wants and help her maintain her health in her senior years. While in care she has had a dental so she has had all the treatments she needs for a while. She is of course, desexed, microchipped and up to date with her vaccinations and parasite treatments. Villanelle is in care in Rowville and is looking for a home in or around Melbourne.

SIR PERCI

DOB: 27/1/2012
Sex: Male
Breed: British Shorthair
Coat: Short
Microchip: 956000008445365
Location: Brighton, VIC

Adoption Fee: $400

Even though Perci is an older guy he is an energetic and engaging cat who loves to keep you on your toes. He loves to investigate his surroundings and is happy to climb if he’s given the means to. Once he is settled he is a very confident man who loves to play if you find the right toy, he particularly loves any toy with catnip in it. He loves to flop onto his back and show you his tummy, it looks like he wants belly scratches but it’s definitely a trap.

While Perci’s weight isn’t too bad, his size can impact his ability to groom himself. He loves routine and with regular brushing he is willing to tolerate it enough to keep him looking handsome. He is currently a good weight but continued exercise will help him to maintain this. Perci loves head scritches and some body pats but like many British Shorthairs he likes these on his own terms. He is very clear when he has had enough and as long as his family are willing to listen he will continue to be his smoochy self.

Perci can be a little bit touchy around the base of his tail and while there’s nothing wrong with it now, we suspect he had an injury at some point and still worries it will hurt. Perci would be best suited to an adult home environment, preferably one with previous British Shorthair experience. While he arrived in care with another cat, he would be best off in a home of his own with no other pets.

While in our care Perci has had a dental, to ensure his teeth are clean and sparkling. He is desexed, microchipped and up to date with her vaccinations and parasite treatments.

Hubert

DOB: 13/08/2007
Sex: Male
Breed: Chinchilla
Coat: Long
Microchip: 978102100104624
Location: Narre Warren South, VIC

Adoption Fee: $300

Hubert is just a cool dude searching for true love in his twilight years. At 17, he’s curious, loving, and full of personality. Like many senior cats, he can be a bit stubborn, especially when he suspects that you’ve tried to sneak dry food into his bowl—but that’s all part of his charm! Hubert is the bestest boy, always happy to keep you company as you go about your day, whether you’re making dinner or folding the washing. When it’s time for bed, he’s right there, ready to snuggle up with you all night long.

Despite his age, Hubert is still active and sprightly, with no issues jumping up onto things. He spends his days finding the warmest spots to snooze or sitting on the windowsill watching the world go by. He’s also quite the chatterbox and has a knack for learning where you keep the food. Don’t be surprised if he tries to lead you there for an extra treat!

Hubert gets along great with other friendly cats, so we’re open to homes with a compatible feline friend. However, he’s also available to an only-cat home where someone is home more often than not so he can be spoiled as he deserves. He would thrive in an adult household or one with teenagers who understand the needs of this dapper gentleman.

While in our care, Hubert has been clipped, had a dental procedure, and undergone two successful rounds of lump removals. He has no ongoing medical needs but will need a family willing to provide any necessary care should he need it in the future. Hubert is desexed, microchipped, and up to date with his vaccinations and parasite treatments. He is currently in care in Narre Warren South and is looking for a home in Melbourne and the surrounding suburbs. If you think you’re the one(s) for Hubert, please apply via the button below.
