Thank you for your interest in adopting from Squishies!

While we’re sure you’re very excited about the prospect of adding a gorgeous Squishy to your family, we ask that you understand that the most important thing for us, is matching the right pet to the right home. For this reason, we do not have a waiting list or take applications before we have gotten to know the animal and what kind of home will suit them best. Animals looking for their new homes will be listed on both our website and social media pages.

We ask that you understand and respect that our animals have very often had terrible lives, prior to coming to Squishies and may need very specific homes. Unfortunately, simply falling in love with the look of a pet does not mean they will be suitable for your home and we will always do everything we can to place animals in the absolute best and most suitable homes possible.

Our adoption fees are set on a case-by-case basis. They generally range between $400 and $1000 for cats and $800+ for dogs. If you are not comfortable in this price range, there are many pounds and shelters that benefit from in-house vets, government funding, and large bequests and have hundreds of animals available for adoption with lower, set fees.

The animals in our care can take some time to be rehabilitated depending on their background. This is our priority as this is why we do the work that we do. This costs not just money but time and energy from out volunteers and vets to ensure that we consider all that the animals need.

We realise this might be frustrating for some and we know it can be hard to stand out from the pack when it comes to applying, so we would encourage you to engage with our social media posts and help us get to know you! If you would like to follow the progress of our rescue animals and see who is coming up for adoption soon please follow us on Facebook or Instagram

Squishies is based in Melbourne, Victoria. Interstate adoptions are on a case-by-case basis with a preference for local homes first.
